Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir and Mohammad Kaif were on Tuesday handed a lifeline for staging a comeback to team India as they were included in the India 'A' squad by the national selectors for two four-day games against visiting West Indies 'A'. Cheteshwar Pujara will lead India 'A' in the four-day games and Yuvraj in the three one-day games and solitary T20 match between September 16 and October 12. The series ends a day before the seven-ODI home series against Australia, starting on October 13, and the two-Test and three-ODI home series against the West Indies (Oct 31-Nov 27).

Yuvraj Singh-led India 'A' suffered a series defeat against West Indies, as the visitors rode on Kirk Edwards’ run-a-ball century to beat the home team by 45 runs in the third and decisive unofficial ODI. Kirk Edwards, who has been held in high esteem in the islands for some time now, smashed a run-a-ball 104 (12×4s, 3×6s), while Leon Johnson (54 off 42 balls), skipper Kieran Powell (40) and Jonathan Carter (35) also chipped in with useful contributions to take West Indies 'A' to the over 300-run total. With 313 needed, India 'A' fell well short, ending on 267 for 8. Powered by the 25-year-old left-hand batsman Jonathan Carter's brilliant all-round show, West Indies 'A' comfortably defeated India 'A' by 55 runs in the second one-dayer at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday. Carter smashed his way to a breathtaking 133 off 132 balls to help West Indies 'A' reach a fighting total of 279 for 6. In reply, the hosts were all out for 224 in 48.4 overs with Carter grabbing 2 for 33 in 6.4 overs with his right-arm seam-up bowling. India 'A' emphatically beat their West Indian counterparts by 77 runs in the first unofficial one-day in Bangalore as skipper Yuvraj Singh slammed his 18th century in List A cricket while Yusuf Pathan hit a fiery 70 not out from 32 balls. Chasing 313 for a victory, the Caribbeans were all out for 235 in 39.1 overs of the rain-shortened 42 overs-a-side match. Vinay Kumar, Yusuf Pathan and Rahul Sharma bagged two wickets each for India.The 31-year-old Yuvraj Singh hit eight fours and seven sixes for his 123 off 89 deliveries and was involved in a 125-run stand off just 55 balls for the fourth wicket with Yusuf Pathan (4x4s, 6x6s). BCCI facilitates Tendulkar`s 200th Test at home

The BCCI on Sunday approved the West Indies visit between the Australia ODI series in October and India's tour of South Africa in December-January. The West Indies will play two Tests and five One Day International matches during their short visit in November 2013. The Indian team's tour of New Zealand for two Tests and five ODIs in January/February 2014 and the Indian team's tour of England for five Tests/five ODIs/one T20 International, from July to September 2014, were also approved by the BCCI.

Pujara Leads India 'A' to Victory in first Unofficial Test [IND-WIN:1-0(1/3)]

24-year-old right-hander Cheteshwar Pujara took a giant stride towards Test breakthrough as he led India 'A' to a thrilling two-wicket win with an unbeaten 96-run knock from 222 deliveries on the fourth and final day of the first unofficial cricket Test against the West Indies 'A' in Barbados. Skipper Pujara, who has struck a 50 in the first innings, added 73 runs with number 10 batsman Shami Ahmed (27) to steer the Indians home after a spectacular collapse had severely jeopardised the team's chances. The second and third match of series will be played at Kingstown and Gros Islet respectively.
