Twenty20 international India vs West Indies, Trinidad
India kicks off on a winning note
June 5, 2011
An under-strength India easily defended 159 to beat West Indies by 16 runs in their Twenty20 match in Trinidad. With Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh among those not playing, India were grateful for Subramaniam Badrinath's 43, having been 56-4, after WI skipper Darren Sammy chose to bowl first. Yusuf Pathan's 15 from six balls helped set a total the hosts never truly threatened. Dwayne Bravo hit 41 but West Indies fell 16 runs short of India’s 159. Badrinath was awarded the Man of the Match award for his 43. This India-West Indies match was the 200th in the history of Twenty20 Internationals.
